PlayStation Partners With Discord

When it comes to communicating with friends in video games, consoles have always struggled compared to PCs. PlayStation is looking to change that by partnering with Discord and integrating a system that will help players have an easier time communicating. Discord is known for its love for games and connecting the gaming community through its services on PC. Now they are looking to branch out and join the console world to continue their journey to connect gamers worldwide.

PlayStation and Discord are hard at work already developing this program and are looking to launch it sometime early next year. Jim Ryan, President & CEO of PlayStation, wrote today on the SEI Blog expressing how excited he is for this upcoming endeavor with Discord, and it looks like something great is going to come out of these two companies working together.

From our very first conversation with co-founders Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, I was inspired by their lifelong love for gaming and our teams’ shared passion to help bring friends and communities together in new ways. Empowering players to create communities and enjoy shared gaming experiences is at the heart of what we do, so we are beyond excited to start this journey with one of the world’s most popular communication services.

I’m excited to see what PlayStation and Discord put out for next year because even though communicating on console is barrable. There must be a better way to connect gamers, especially with all most all-new multiplayer games being cross-platform. I would like to see this new feature allow you to communicate with PC since Discord is mainly for PC, but I would also love to see Xbox and Nintendo involved. This will make crossplay a whole lot easier since you won’t have to have a computer or another device to communicate with your fellow gamers.

What are your thoughts on this announcement? We would like to hear from you. Do you think this is a good thing for consoles or just another feature that will cause headaches? Whatever PlayStation and Discord bring to the table, hopefully, it will run smoothly and make your games even more enjoyable.
